PREPARING FOR MARS: HUMAN SLEEP AND PERFORMANCE DURING A 13 MONTH STAY IN ANTARCTICA

I asked Matthieu Ronsse to portray me in my installation ‘(for there are bodies all about but no shoes left tidy by the mat)’. The set-up is based on the etching ‘Mars Sleeping’ by the Dutch Golden Age engraver Jacob de Gheyn III, from a 1972 calendar inspired by the Greek and Roman Mythology in Ancient Dutch Art, that I used for my performance ‘cake’.
