ABOUT
Myrthe van der Mark works at the intersection between visual art and performance. She unites a variety of media and disciplines in her work, with a focus on performance, sculpture and video. She uses actions and objects to spark direct, personal associations and wants to highlight a specific context. During her interventions, she expresses both present and absent elements, exploring and investigating different forms of communication.
Myrthe van der Mark went to The Institute of Performative Arts - Toneelacademie Maastricht (NL), where she became a Master of Arts in 2021. In 2012 she obtained her Bachelor degree of Fine Arts at ArtEZ, University of the Arts in Arnhem (NL). With her performance 'L'Air' she became first laureate of Art Contest 2020. She received support from The Flemish Government, Stichting Niemeijer Fonds, Platform 0090 and Otty Park. A selection of residencies: Frans Masereel Centrum, Kunstencentrum BUDA, Kaap Arts Center, School van Gaasbeek, Stuk Arts Center and Herman Teirlinck Huis. Van der Mark showed her work a.o. at Extra City, 10N Brussels, Avee Gallery, Z33, Art Brussels, Museum D'Hondt-Dhaenens, M HKA, Antwerp Art Weekend 2023, STUK Arts Center and Vleeshal (Middelburg). Currently she works on a solo exhibition that will take place at Cc Strombeek (Grimbergen); a performance at De Brakke Grond (Amsterdam) and a performance for the Yokohama Triennale (Japan).
